Internal Link Equity Split Calculator
Are you diluting your ranking power? Visualize how your page authority (PageRank) is divided among your outbound links.
Stop Wasting Your “Link Juice”
Think of your webpage’s authority like a bucket of water (Link Juice). Every link on your page is a small hole in that bucket.
If you drill 5 holes, you have 5 strong streams of water. If you drill 100 holes, you have 100 tiny drips.
This Link Equity Split Calculator helps you visualize how PageRank is distributed. It proves why massive “Mega Menus” and cluttered footers can actually hurt your SEO by diluting the power passed to your main content.
The PageRank Algorithm Simplified
[Image of PageRank distribution diagram]- The Damping Factor (0.85): Google assumes that a user will eventually stop clicking links. So, only ~85% of a page’s authority is passed on. The rest “evaporates.”
- Division: The remaining authority is divided roughly equally among all outbound links. (Note: Modern Google is smarter and weighs prominent links heavier, but the dilution principle remains true).
Myth: “Nofollow Saves Link Juice”
Years ago, SEOs would add rel="nofollow" to unimportant links (like “Terms of Service”) to force more juice to their important links. This is called “Link Sculpting.”
Google patched this in 2009. Now, if you have 10 links and 5 are nofollow, the juice for those 5 is simply lost; it is not redistributed to the other 5.
The Solution: Don’t nofollow internal links. Instead, remove them entirely if they aren’t necessary.
