How to “Flatten” Your Site
If your calculator results show a high percentage of pages at Depth 4+, use these strategies to bring them closer to the surface:
Add a “Sitemap” link in your footer. This page should link to all your major categories and sub-pages, effectively reducing their depth to 2 clicks from any page.
Use “Related Articles” widgets to link older content from newer content. This creates horizontal tunnels that bots can travel through.
Breadcrumbs and Categories
Ensure you use Breadcrumb Navigation (Home > Category > Product). This ensures every deep page links back to higher-level pages, circulating authority upwards and downwards.
